Victims of car accidents often burdened with high medical bills

A car accident can be very expensive for everyone involved. Between damages to vehicles, structures and hospital bills, victims' bills can pile up. Car accidents, unfortunately, occur every day in Tennessee. One that occurred last weekend that was believed to have been caused by a convicted felon resulted in one fatality and injuries to two others.

The accident involved two motor vehicles and lead to the hospitalization of both drivers, as well as the death of a 37-year-old male passenger. It took place around 5:40 p.m. on a Saturday night in early May. A 37-year-old male was reportedly speeding in a sports car when an officer tried to pull him over. The man sped away in an apparent attempt to evade the policeman. Not long afterward, the man attempted to pass an SUV as it was turning onto another street, resulting in a crash.

The impact caused the SUV to roll over, and the car struck a brick building after leaving the roadway. A passenger in the car, a 37-year-old man, died at the accident scene. Both drivers were transported to a local medical center. The police reportedly found a loaded handgun, as well as marijuana and large amounts of cash in the car. The driver, a convicted felon, had previous convictions for a variety of charges, including aggravated assault, felony possession of a weapon, evading arrest, aggravated burglary and cocaine possession.

Car accidents are always unfortunate, and, often, there is not much that a Tennessee driver can do to avoid becoming involved in one. However, if someone is seriously injured by a driver who has broken a traffic law, the victim may choose to file a civil suit for damages. Between exorbitantly expensive hospital bills and lost wages, sometimes people simply need some financial assistance to help alleviate the woes of their situations. In filing a personal injury lawsuit in relation to a car accident, a victim might be able to receive much-needed aid to help pay for his or her medical care.
