Car accidents in parking lots can seriously injure pedestrians

Many car accidents that occur in Tennessee don't result in physical harm to the drivers or serious damage to the respective driver's vehicles. However, when car accidents involve a vehicle and a pedestrian, the outcome can often be quite different. Such is the case in a recent collision that sent an elderly man to the hospital.

The accident in question occurred in early June in Johnson City. According to police reports, a pedestrian was struck by a minivan while walking through a Walmart parking lot. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was a 71-year-old man.

The man sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local medical center for immediate treatment. No details have been released regarding the driver, but, according to the police, they believe that speed may have been a factor in this crash. The accident is currently still under investigation and charges have yet to be pressed.

After the investigation is concluded and the results are revealed, it might be found that the negligence of the driver of the minivan contributed to the cause of this car accident. In Tennessee, when car accidents are the result of another driver's negligence, the victim is entitled to file a personal injury claim. A successful personal injury claim often results in recouping the losses associated with, and often incurred as the result of, a car accident, including medical bills, property damage and pain and suffering. Contacting an experienced personal injury attorney is often among the first steps in the process to determine whether or not one has a case.
