Recent Tennessee car accidents: Ex-pro wrestler involved in wreck

When car accidents occur in Tennessee, their ramifications can have lasting repercussions. Luckily, not all result in serious injury. However, when car accidents do result in a serious injury due to another party's negligence, individuals sometimes seek legal relief in the form of a personal injury lawsuit.

For example, a recent car accident involved former pro wrestler Jerry Lawler and his girlfriend. The car took the brunt of the collision, but Lawler's girlfriend was still injured. The two-car accident occurred in Memphis on a recent Saturday night in October.

Lawler says he was stopped at an intersection. When the green arrow was illuminated, he began to turn left. It was then that he saw an oncoming car and realized that the driver was not slowing down. It ran the red light and collided with Lawler's vehicle. Lawler walked away without any injuries to speak of, but his girlfriend was rushed to the emergency room with a swollen face, signs of a concussion and in need of a leg brace.

The investigation into this accident is ongoing. If the gathered evidence suggests that negligence was a contributing factor in causing the woman's injuries, she will be entitled to file a personal injury claim against the driver. In Tennessee, when car accidents occur and this type of claim is successfully navigated, any compensation derived from it may be used to diminish the financial burdens that are typically encountered, such as past, present and future medical bills and lost pay from missed work while recovering. An experienced personal injury attorney is usually the best place to start to determine whether there is a valid case and to identify all parties who may be culpable.
