Recent Tennessee truck accidents: Tour bus and semi truck collide

An accident that involved a semi truck, as well as a tour bus, occurred recently, authorities say. The accident took place near Cookeville around noon on a recent Wednesday in November. When truck accidents like these occur, Tennessee motorists are often left seriously injured.

According to Tennessee Department of Transportation officials, the tour bus and tractor-trailer were both being operated in Putnam County in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 when the incident occurred. Officials say that the tour bus, which was transporting the rock band, Hinder, rear-ended the tractor-trailer. The force of the initial collision caused the tractor-trailer to rear-end an SUV.

Three individuals were rushed to a local medical center, including the driver of the tour bus, as well as two of its passengers. Apparently none of the injuries they suffered were life-threatening, and neither the driver of the semi truck or any passengers in the SUV required serious medical attention. Interstate 40 was shut down for a few hours, and the eastbound lanes were not reopened until around 3:30 p.m.

The two passengers in the tour bus could face extensive medical bills and require long-term physical therapy. If this is the case, they, like other individuals in similar circumstances, may choose to pursue personal injury claims in civil court in Tennessee against the party or parties believed to have acted negligently. If the court rules that the bus driver's negligence either caused or contributed to the injuries suffered by the passengers of the bus, then a judgment for monetary damages may be awarded. When individuals suffer serious injuries after being involved in truck accidents, they typically consult experienced personal injury attorneys. The attorneys can assess the validity of their claims, as well as effectively represent them as they pursue financial relief.
