Young doctor's death prompts medical malpractice suit

A young doctor who graduated from medical school on May 11, 2013, was about to begin her residency at an out-of-state hospital in pediatrics, when she died in a hospital just 18 days later of a brain hemorrhage. The woman's parents filed a medical malpractice suit against the hospital where she received treatment in 2014. When Tennessee residents suffer harm due to the negligence of medical professionals, they may decide to pursue medical malpractice suits against the responsible parties.

Fatal car accident may lead to wrongful death suit

A two-car accident recently took place that resulted in one fatality and one injury. The accident occurred on a recent Saturday night in February, authorities say. When Tennessee residents are killed due to the negligence of another individual, their loved ones or family are typically entitled to file a wrongful death suit.

Hospital settles medical malpractice suit, will pay $9M

An out-of-state medical center must pay $9 million in a medical malpractice settlement. A pregnant woman went to the hospital on Sept. 7, 2010 and suffered a birth injury, according to the medical malpractice lawsuit. The medical staff was very familiar with the woman's medical history, including the woman's higher-than-normal risk of uterine rupture. When Tennessee individuals are treated negligently while in the care of a health care professional, they are typically entitled to file a medical malpractice suit against that professional, in addition to the medical center, when applicable.

High school athlete dies, family files medical malpractice suit

A little over four years ago, an out-of-state teen athlete began complaining of weakness and shortness of breath and was taken to the emergency room. The teen, a 15-year-old high school athlete, received treatment for what was thought to be an asthma attack, after which he was sent home. A short while later, he went into cardiac arrest and died. His family recently filed a medical malpractice suit against the physician who had treated him as well as the hospital that employed the doctor. When Tennessee residents are the victims of medical negligence, they are typically entitled to file a medical malpractice suit against the negligent party or parties.
