Husband and wife dead after wrong way crash in Tazewell

No matter how safe we drive, there is always the chance of a tragic accident occurring. When such an unexpected event happens, lives can be lost, catastrophic injuries can happen and many lives can be permanently and irrevocably affected.

One such accident happened on a recent Sunday morning in Tazewell, Tennessee. A married couple was riding in a vehicle northbound on U.S. Highway 25E. The 47-year-old man was driving, and his 50-year-old wife was riding as a passenger when their car was struck head on.

According to police, the crash happened just after midnight. When the couple entered a curve in the road, another car driving the opposite direction also entered the curve. Tragically, the other driver lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line, hit a guardrail and crashed into the couple's vehicle. Both the man and wife were killed as a result of the collision. The other driver survived, but police have not revealed his current condition, which remains unknown.

As of last reports, police had not completed their investigation into this incident and it is unknown whether the wrong way driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Once the investigation is complete, the surviving driver could face criminal charges in court.

Following a fatal crash, it is important for police to investigate how exactly the incident occurred. The results of those investigations could assist family members who wish to seek financial restitution for the loss of their loved one. A wrongful death claim like this, when supported by facts and evidence that indicate the victims died as a result of another driver's negligence, can help surviving family members gain a sense of closure and financial compensation for their loss.
