The horror of car accidents evident once again in Tennessee

A recent accident at a festival in Tennessee turned excitement into horror for many. Car accidents such as this one makes one ponder the absurdity of life. The accident happened at a popular Tennessee festival on a recent Saturday afternoon.

Reports indicate that an elderly man crashed through a barricade made up of barrels, striking the two victims. Eyewitnesses have indicated that the victims did not see the car coming as they were facing in the opposite direction. Before striking the two victims who were killed, the man also hit a baby stroller. Fortunately, it was only used for a doll.

Apart from the two deceased victims, two other visitors were injured. One had to be airlifted to a hospital, while the other was transported by road. Both the driver and his passenger were injured and taken to hospital. The accident happened over lunch time, which may have been a blessing in disguise as more people could have been injured or killed at any other time. A similar accident happened in 2007; that caused the deaths of six people.

Tennessee law allows families of deceased victims of  car accidents to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of a car and possible other parties, based upon evidence of negligent or reckless conduct. Seriously injured victims may choose to file personal injury claims. Should the evidence document that driver negligence was the root cause of the accident, a civil court may award financial damages to the injured victims and the families of the deceased. A financial reward may provide some form of relieve during an understandably difficult time.
